Day 1: Welcome to Bhutan’s Paro - Enchanting Paro to Thimphu Journey

Begin your enchanting journey by taking a scenic flight to Paro. This flight is renowned as one of the most breathtaking mountain flights globally, treating you to ever-changing views of some of the world’s highest peaks. Upon your arrival at Paro airport, we extend a warm welcome and embark on a picturesque 51-kilometer journey, taking around 1 hour and 20 minutes, leading you to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. Following your arrival in Thimphu, check in to your hotel and refresh. Afterward, savor a delicious lunch and embark on a captivating exploration of The Memorial Chorten and Tashichho Dzong, a majestic fortress representing the glorious religion of Bhutan. As evening descends, take a leisurely stroll through the charming Thimphu town and explore local handicraft stores. Your night is graciously hosted at a hotel in Thimphu.

Day 2: Thimphu Sightseeing

Dive into the rich culture of Thimphu with a visit to The School of Traditional Painting of Arts and Crafts, where dedicated students undertake a comprehensive six-year course. Explore The Folk Heritage Museum, an open-air museum offering a unique glimpse into rural life, and the Takin Preserve, home to the rare and majestic national animal of Bhutan. Day 3: Thimphu to Gangtey

Following a hearty breakfast, you’ll journey to the glacial valley of Phobjikha (Distance: 140 kilometers, Estimated Travel Time: 4 hours). In Gangtey, you’ll visit the grand Gangtey Monastery and the Black Neck Crane Center. Explore the idyllic Gangtey village and the breathtaking Phobjikha valley. Your night in Phobjikha promises serenity and natural beauty.

Day 4: Gangtey to Trongsa

In the morning, you’ll continue your journey towards the central heart of Bhutan, reaching Trongsa, a district with significant historical importance (Distance: 120 kilometers, Estimated Travel Time: 4 hours). After a satisfying lunch, you’ll visit Trongsa Dzong, followed by a visit to Ta Dzong, a watchtower perched on a hillside above the town, offering panoramic views of the region. You will spend the night in Trongsa.

Day 5: Trongsa to Punakha

Begin your day with a scenic drive, venturing back towards the western part of Bhutan (Distance: 138 kilometers, Estimated Travel Time: 4-5 hours). This journey takes you through small villages, past enchanting waterfalls, and across the Black Mountains, offering ever-changing landscapes. Eventually, you’ll arrive in the warm valley of Punakha, a place of tranquil beauty. Your night in Punakha assures a delightful experience.

Day 6: Punakha Sightseeing

After breakfast, your exploration of Punakha commences with a visit to the Divine Madman’s Monastery, Chhimi Lhakhang. Explore the impressive Punakha Dzong, adorned with impeccable woodwork. Do not miss the massive Kuenray, the Coronation Hall of Bhutanese kings, the Dzongchung at the entrance to the dzong, and the recently renovated cantilever bridge over the Mochu. A short drive from the Dzong takes you to the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan, spanning 160 meters. Day 7: Punakha to Paro

Enjoy a delightful lunch in Thimphu, and before reaching Paro, visit the National Post Office, where you can obtain various Bhutanese stamps and even create personalized Bhutanese stamps with your own pictures. Explore Paro, visiting the renowned Paro Dzong, a splendid example of Bhutanese historical architecture, often referred to as the Rinpung Dzong. In the evening, wander through the lively Paro town, engage with the locals, and perhaps indulge in some shopping. Your night in Paro offers a peaceful retreat.

Day 8: Paro – The Taktsang Hike

Today, you’re in for a captivating highlight of your journey as you embark on a hike to the iconic Taktsang Goempa, also known as the Tiger’s Nest Monastery, the most famous tourist destination in Bhutan. A brief 30-minute drive from Paro town takes you to the parking lot, from where your hike to the viewpoint typically takes about 1.5 hours, offering spectacular views of the monastery. Upon reaching the viewpoint, you’ll pause for refreshments before continuing your ascent to the monastery, an additional 1.5-hour hike. This sacred site is associated with Guru Padmasambhava, who flew to this location from Tibet on the back of a tigress in the 8th century. Following your visit to the monastery, you’ll hike downhill to the road and enjoy lunch at the viewpoint cafeteria. Later, visit Kichu Temple. As evening sets in, you can relax and enjoy a peaceful overnight stay in a Paro hotel.

Day 9: Departure from Paro

Post breakfast, it’s time to bid farewell to the enchanting beauty of Bhutan. You will be transferred to the airport for your onward journey.

Cancellation and Refunds Policies

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours after booking payment.
In the event of cancellation, Traveler should notify Lotus of India in writing at – least 60 days prior to travel.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
Any changes made after paid booking before the experience’s start date / time will be subject to modification fees.
If the experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.
