Baijnath

Situated at an altitude of 1,311 meters in the scenic Kangra Valley along the banks of the Binwa River, Baijnath is one of the most revered spiritual destinations in Himachal Pradesh. The town is world-renowned for its extraordinary 13th-century stone temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, worshipped here as Vaidyanath (“Lord of Physicians”). Built in 1204 AD by two local merchants, Ahuka and Manyuka, the Baijnath Temple complex stands as an exceptional masterpiece of classical North Indian Nagara architecture. According to ancient legends, it is closely associated with the mythical demon king Ravana and houses one of the sacred Jyotirlingas.
